Talyllyn receives Peter Mainsty Award for Excellence

At the Annual General Meeting of the Heritage Railways Association, held at Norwich on Saturday 2nd February, the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society was presented with the Peter Manisty Award For Excellence, in recognition of 50 years of the TRPS. The award, which is a brass casting based on the style of the commemorative plaque affixed to "Mallard", was presented to TRPS Chairman Roger Whitehouse by Dame Margaret Weston, President of the HRA.

Roger Whitehouse's acceptance speech was concluded with these words:

"To receive this award gives me great pleasure. It honours all our staff, volunteers and members over the last (now) 51 years, in some cases extending to a third or even fourth generation of the same family, the people whose contributions have made it all possible."
