Work was also being undertaken on the new steps down to the play area at Abergynolwyn and at Nant Gwernol. Two regular volunteers from the Netherlands were joined by two Dutch freight-train drivers. Loco No. 6 "Duncan" was steamed on Tuesday 26th to test the safety valve setting prior to the boiler inspector's next visit and to test the air-pump returned from France for repair. Work and testing has been completed on another air-pump, sent from the Teifi Valley for repair following fire damage. Work was also in progress on No. 6's valve gear and No. 7's boiler and ashpan, and diesel drivers' training was underway. Wharf East Ground Frame is temporarily disconnected while a steel plate is being prepared to carry the cranks in front of the frame. |
