At the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition, November 2000

The railway attended the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition (at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, on 4th-5th November 2000) in force, with locomotive No. 1 "Talyllyn" and carriage No. 3 in attendance. Virgin Trains presented the railway with one of the nameplates destined for their locomotive No. 86258; this had been due to be renamed at Birmingham International station on Thursday 2nd November, but the ceremony had to be postponed due to difficulties on the National Railway system. During the show, a replica Talyllyn 2-bar slate wagon, incorporating original ironwork, was built (a number of times). On this, the first run, assembly took just under 40 minutes. Subsequent runs brought this time down to around 15 minutes.
