Have-a-Go & Garden Railway Gala

A weekend packed with Garden Railways and Have-A-Go activities

 Live your childhood dream and get behind the cotrols of a coal fired steam locomotive on the Talyllyn Railway. You can also learn the skilled duties of firing a locomotive. A range of experiences run across the weekend. The popular Llechfan Garden Railway will be operating all weekend with specialist model railway traders also in attendance. On Saturday evening there is a special evening train and meal.

Garden railway  

Llechfan Garden Railway

Running model live steam and electric trains all day - see famous narrow gauge trains and impressive locomotives in miniature, including Talyllyn locomotives and rolling stock! Llechfan Garden is at Tywyn Wharf, find out more on their own website.

Miniature  

Miniature Railway

A miniature railway will be created for the weekend in Tywyn Wharf yard, offering rides behind a visiting miniture steam locomotive.

 Garden Railway  

Garden Railway Market

Specialist garden model railway traders will be settingup stalls across Tywyn Wharf station. Browse the stalls - you may even pick up a bargain!

 Evening Train  

Evening Train

Enjoy an evening trip by train and experience the beautiful Fathew Valley in the evening light - all welcome.

All day food, Bar, and Evening Meal

King's Bistro at Tywyn Wharf station will be open for evening meals. The bar is open to all, with real ales, wines & spirits.

Driving Experience*

Drive a carriage set form Tywyn Wharf - Brynglas, 4 available each day - take as many as you wish. 1 trip £70, 2 trips £130, 3 trips £190, 4 trips £250.

Firing Experience*

Two full line trips on the public service train: one observing, one firing. 2 available each day - £95.

Drive a diesel for a fiver!  

Diesel Driver for a Fiver

'Turn up and go' short driving trips - no need to book.

Evening Train footplate passes*

Travel on the footplate for one of 8 sections of the line £12 including travel on evening train on 4th July.
