Spring Bank Holiday 2005
The Railway has been having a busy Spring Bank Holiday week, with both Wharf and Abergynolwyn car parks reported as overflowing yesterday (Thursday). At Abergynolwyn, the row of cars nearly reached the village. It was fortunate, then, to have carriage 23 back in revenue earning service this year. Chris White has sent these photographs of it at Dolgoch station on its first trip. The carriages has received wood work repairs, an entire set of new laminated glass and been completely repainted by the combined efforts of the week-end bodgers and the weekly Wednesday club. It really does look a credit to all concerned. It is our most recently built carriage having first entered service on 29 March 1975 and was coupled next to the original brake and guards van No 5 of 1865.
Talyllyn Tracksiders have also been in action, seen here tending a bonfire in Llechfan garden and preparing the track work for the TR slate wagon display by the Neptune road entrance to Wharf Station. Many thanks to Keith Theobald for these photographs.
Keith has also sent these recent shots from the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum.
Finally, Michael Howard has contributed this view of the Wharf coal yard from the museum balcony, showing also the restored wagons.
