New name boards
In the interests of historical authenticity and modern calls for bi-lingualism it was decided that the signs on the station at Dolgoch would all show the one word DOLGOCH rather than Dolgoch Falls which has been favoured for over twenty years. New boards were put in place during Outdoor Week and the board at Hendy was also replaced. This completes the programme that was started by Graham Vincent about fifteen years ago to equip all the stations with standard name signs comprising black cast letters on a cream, ivory or buttermilk background with a green edging. Graham had a good collection of cast letters which he had recovered from various sources and these were supplemented by additional castings in more recent years, financed by the Museum Trust. The first picture shows the new east end board on existing posts. Dirk and Erik came from Germany for the Outdoor Week and put up new rail posts for the sign at the west end and also helped to install the board at Hendy. Thanks to Chris White for the article and pictures
