North Ings Farm Museum

Recent work on the two locos at North Ings Farm Museum owned by The Narrow Gauge Railway Museum Trust is pictured here.

“Penelope” diesel locomotive MOD No LOD758022 Motor Rail 8826/43. 2' gauge has been fitted with a new fan belt of the nutlock type. The opportunity was taken to dismantle the fan bearings and thoroughly clean and grease them and also to paint the fan itself. Pictures show the fan belt and fan in close–up and the whole loco without the engine covers. It is intended to paint the fan yellow in due course. All the grease nipples were treated to a dose of suitable grease.

Work continues on the rebuild of the radiator and front end of Indian Runner, Ruston and Hornsby 2’ gauge type 33/40HP diesel locomotive No. 200744 of 1940, powered by 3VRO 201931. The picture shows the new front plate recently supplied, the newly painted radiator ends and the radiator top casting which has been removed as it has virtually rusted away and which is to be replaced by the one formerly in use on Talyllyn Railway 5 “Midlander” which is being prepared for use.
