Phil Guest Memorial Train

On Saturday 19th July 2008 a memorial train was run for Phil Guest, a long standing loco department volunteer who sadly passed away recently. Phil was a 'proper railway gentleman', and is greatly missed by everyone on the TR. Although we all have our own way of remembering him, the train was an opportunity for family and friends to see what Phil got up to on his holidays and to meet the TR volunteers who have been his friends for many years.

Before the train there was a service in St.Cadfans conducted by Nigel Adams and Rev. Vroom, with Bob Hey playing the organ.

The train was double headed with a headboard made by TR volunteer Dale Coton.

Phil's train was crewed by Bill Tyndall, Keith Foster, Noel Williams, James Foster and guard Gordon Rhodes.

Around 50 TR volunteers plus members of Phil's family and friends from his teaching days came along. There was a small buffet at Abergynolwyn for those who attended.

Thanks to all who were involved for arranging the train, providing the wine and catering the buffet.

Thank you to Bill Tyndall and David Mitchell for the photographs.
