Pendre Latest - October 12th 2008

No 7 'Tom Rolt' has been out and about in the gorgeous sunshine on a test run.

No 7 has been lit up to check that the steam pipes don't leak and to make sure that everything has been put together right so far.

Martin Fuller takes her off shed.

The 13:55 off Wharf with No 4 'Edward Thomas' (crewed by John Burton and Sarah Freeman) pass No 7 at Pendre.

Martin and Sam get ready to go down to Wharf. As you can see, the bunkers and cab need to be refitted, and the cladding put back on the firebox.

Test drive down to Wharf to fill up the coal wagon. As No 7 currently has no coal bunker it's advisable to make sure there is a supply handy.

No 7 isn't the only engine having some attention paid to her by the Loco Working Party. No 2 'Dolgoch' recently had some tube trouble and the fitters have replaced 5 leaking tubes. You can just about make them out - they are the cleaner looking tube ends at the top of the box.

And finally, a very important task has been accomplished. The firewood pile at Pendre is unusually neat and full of perfectly chopped wood.
