Talyllyn Treats

‘Talyllyn Treats’ - the special way to celebrate a birthday or anniversary!
The Talyllyn Railway offers you a truly memorable and personal day out.

The package is flexible, according to needs and the railway’s timetable for the date chosen, and includes:
  • Tour of the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum
  • Lunch in the ‘King's Licensed Café’ at Wharf
  • Tour of Pendre Works and Shed
  • Train Ride
  • Footplate Ride for the Special Guest (Adults only)
  • Afternoon Tea at Abergynolwyn
  • A ride in the guards van for the Special Guest
Typically, the day will start at 11.00am, when you will be met and welcomed to the railway, and finish at 5.10pm. Travel for small parties of guests will be reserved in First Class accommodation, but we can also cater for larger parties. Please note that the Special Guest  has to be 16 or over to comply with Health and Safety legislation.
Price: £60 per person.

Children's Birthday Parties

Children’s Birthday Parties can also be arranged, to include party food and the train ride. Whilst footplate trips are restricted to those who have accumulated more birthdays, you are welcome to photograph children standing on the footplate whilst the train is in the station.
Prior booking is essential, and a minimum of two weeks is required. If a particular date is wanted, then you are advised to book as far in advance as possible.

Private Charter Trains

For an extra-special treat, bespoke packages including a Private Charter Train can be arranged. These are an especially popular way to celebrate an Anniversary, but are not limited to this!

Weddings

The railway is also licensed for weddings, and we can offer a complete package to suit. A more detailed information leaflet is available, which we would be happy to send on request, or you can telephone to discuss your requirements. See our Weddings page for further inforamtion.

Bookings and further information

Please email David Mitchelll at treats [at] talyllyn [dot] co [dot] uk or contact us  to discuss details of your preferred package - you can be assured of a warm welcome and personal attention to make your day really memorable.

Testimonials

Just a short note to thank you for arranging the day for us last Tuesday. Thanks especially to Tony, the drivers and all those who helped to make the day a memorable one. Father-in-law (the birthday boy) had a really great time as did we all. We couldn't have been looked after any better. Many thanks once again.

Chris Wallis

I feel I have to put pen to paper to reiterate my thanks for last Saturday's Birthday Treat. The whole day went like an exceedingly pleasant dream for me and my friends appreciated all that was laid on for us.

Every one of your staff and volunteers were wonderfully helpful and friendly. .. Again, thank you and the "Friendly line" for a truely memorable day.

Robert Knight

Thank you so much for arranging the splendid birthday treat for my husband yesterday. We both had a wonderful time, and were treated like royalty. Could you please pass on our very sincere thanks to Tony Edwards, for his warm hospitality and for sharing so much interesting information as we went round the museum and the workshops, to the driver and fireman on No.1 Talyllyn, who gave my husband such an unforgetable treat, and to Philip and Chris in the guard's van, who were great company and kept me entertained on the journey.

We are most greatful to everyone concerned for giving us a very special day.
