Admin login | Printable version The Annual General Meeting took place in Neuadd Pendre (formerly the Drill Hall), Tywyn on Saturday afternoon, 30th. September, 2000. The chair was taken by the President, Jeremy Wilkinson. The major items of business were:
Election of PresidentJeremy Wilkinson was re-elected as President.
Election of Vice-PresidentsWinston McCanna joined this honoured group. The full list of Vice-Presidents elected is:Christopher Awdry, John Bate, James Boyd, Pat Garland, Dai Jones, Winston McCanna, Major Peter Olver, Sonia Rolt, John Slater, Roy Smith, and Don Southgate.
Appointment of AuditorsSilver and Company were reappointed as the Society's Auditors.
Election of Honorary SecretaryJohn Robinson was re-elected.
Election of Council Members.218 ballot papers were submitted, of which one was spoilt, and the votes were as follows, the successful candidates being shown in bold:
Traffic and Operating CommitteeThe results of the election to the T.& O.C. were reported as follows (successful candidates in bold):

Traffic Department
Young Members' CommitteeThe results of the election to the Y.M.G. Committee were not reported at the A.G.M. as, it being uncontested, they had already appeared in the Talyllyn News. Those elected were: Helen Coulls, Jo Shuttleworth, Kathy Whitehouse, Lizi Whitehouse and Andrew Young.
Membership SubscriptionsAn overwhelming majority voted in favour of a motion proposed by Simon Jenkins increasing subscription rates to a higher level than proposed by the Council.
The new subscription rates came into force immediately and are:
Collection and rafflesThe collection during the meeting raised over ?500 for the Golden Jubilee Appeal, whilst two raffles raised smaller but useful sums towards the Edward Thomas boiler fund.
This is just a summary of the elections and so on. Apart from the usual commercials, other business was scarce and the meeting finished very early. The full minutes of the Annual General Meeting in draft form will be published here by about 20/10/2000. If any member of the Society has specific queries or corrections please email me and I will do my best to deal with them.
The weather stayed fine on the Saturday and was dry but overcast and chilly on Sunday. The evening entertainment went off very well with an organ recital, some historic films, the final episode of Phil Higginson's epic sequence of plays, various other humorous items and a performance from local band Backtracks.
