T.R.P.S. Annual General Meeting 2001 - Summary

The Annual General Meeting took place in Neuadd Pendre (formerly the Drill Hall), Tywyn on Saturday afternoon, 29th. September, 2001. The chair was initially taken by the retiring President, Jeremy Wilkinson. The major items of business were:

Joy Bowles

The meeting commenced by standing in silence in memory of Council Member Joy Bowles who died on 25th. June.

Election of President

Christopher Awdry was elected as President to succeed Jeremy Wilkinson and took the chair from that point in the meeting.

Election of Vice-Presidents

The following were elected as Vice-Presidents:
John Bate, James Boyd, Pat Garland, Dai Jones, Winston McCanna, Major Peter Olver, Sonia Rolt, John Slater, Roy Smith, Don Southgate, and Jeremy Wilkinson.

Appointment of Auditors

Silver and Company were reappointed as the Society's Auditors.

Election of Honorary Treasurer

Colin Roobottom was re-elected.

Election of Council Members.

227 ballot papers were submitted, of which one was spoilt, and the votes were as follows, the successful candidates being shown in bold:

The results of the election to T.O.C. were reported as follows (successful candidates in bold):

Locomotive Department

Only four nominations were received for four places and the following were declared elected: Bill Heynes, Simon Jenkins, Chris Price and Andrew Young.

Young Members' Committee

The results of the election to the Y.M.G. Committee were not reported at the A.G.M. as, it being uncontested, they had already appeared in the Talyllyn News. Those elected were: Bryony Doe, Liz Garvey, Alastair Ribbands, Jo Shuttleworth and Kathy Whitehouse.

Amendments to the Constitution and Rules

An overwhelming majority voted in favour of the amendments proposed by the Council. Details are set out on p.19 of the June 2001 Talyllyn News.

Collection

The collection during the meeting raised over ?450 for the Golden Jubilee Appeal.

This is just a summary of the elections and so on. Apart from the usual commercials, other business was scarce and the meeting finished quite early. It was followed by a short slide show of highlights of Jubilee Year. The full minutes of the Annual General Meeting in draft form will be published here by about 22/10/2000. If any member of the Society has specific queries or corrections please email me and I will do my best to deal with them.

The weather stayed fine on the Saturday but was overcast with occasional rain on Sunday.
