A collection was held during the meeting in memory of John Slater and raised approximately £1,062 (including assumed tax reclaim on donations to Talyllyn Holdings under gift-aid).

Locomotive livery policy

A procedural motion proposed by Mike Davies was carried which resulted in the Council proposition on livery policy not being put to the meeting. The intention is that a range of options should be put to the 2005 A.G.M.

Observers at Council Meetings

A motion proposed by Mike Davies was carried which requested the Council of the Society to admit other members of the Society to observe non-confidential business at its meetings.

Members' free travel

A motion was proposed by Michael Howard in the terms prefigured in his letter in the September Talyllyn News, but failed to find a seconder after it was pointed out that any proposal for change would have to be brought to a future General Meeting.

Life membership

The Chairman of Council presented David Martin with a Life Membership card at his father's expense.

Portacake

Recollecting that in about 1990 he had vowed to eat any portable building remaining at Wharf after five years, and noting that their removal was now within contemplation, Jane Garvey presented David Leech with a cake in the semblance of a portable building. The sale of pieces of cake later raised about £65.

This is just a summary of the elections and other major items. The meeting was more lively than some in recent years and finished at 1730.

The full minutes of the Annual General Meeting in draft form will be published here by about 24/10/2004. If any member of the Society has specific queries or corrections please email me and I will do my best to deal with them.

The evening entertainment was the most humorous for some years.

The weather was wet early in the day and cold in the early evening.
