Admin login | Printable version The Annual General Meeting took place in Neuadd Pendre (formerly the Drill Hall), Tywyn on Saturday afternoon, 29th. September, 2007. The chair was taken by the President, Richard Hope. The major items of business were:
Election of PresidentRichard Hope was re-elected as President.
Election of Vice-PresidentsChristopher Awdry and David Mitchell were elected as Vice-Presidents.(Following the changes to the Constitution and Rules at the 2006 A.G.M. only new Vice-Presidents require election)
Appointment of Independent ExaminersSilver and Company were reappointed as the Society’s Independent Examiners.
Election of Honorary TreasurerGarry Mumford was re-elected.
Election of Council Members206 ballot papers were submitted, of which one was spoiled, and the votes were as follows, the successful candidates being shown in bold:
Traffic and Operating CommitteeThe results of the election to T.O.C. were reported as follows (successful candidates in bold):
Traffic DepartmentOnly four nominations were received for four places and the following were declared elected: Walter Crowe, Lawrence Garvey, Sam Rowbotham and Matthew Wear.Locomotive Department
Young Members’ CommitteeThe results of the election to the Y.M.G. Committee were reported as follows (successful candidates in bold):
Executive CommitteeGarry Mumford gave a Powerpoint presentation explaining the proposal for an Executive Committee, with monthly meetings, to undertake many of the functions hitherto performed by the Board.
Marketing ReportSteve Martin gave a Powerpoint presentation about Marketing and he and Lis Mann responded to questions from the floor.
Presentation to Ed LundJohn Smallwood thanked Ed for his long service as a volunteer and employee and to mark his retirement from full-time employment presented him with a copy of a book about the Darjeeling Himalaya Railway and a print of a 16mm film about an Austrian railway.CollectionA collection was held during the meeting towards the purchase of a petrol-powered hand tamping machine.This is just a summary of the elections and other major items. The meeting was good-humoured and finished at 1730. The full minutes of the Annual General Meeting in draft form will be published here in due course. If any member of the Society has specific queries or corrections please email me and I will do my best to deal with them.
The main item of the evening entertainment was a collection of sketches perfomed by young and not-so-young members. The weather was fine.
