Dear all
Here is your personal invitation to join the 2008 Tracksiders! The programme follows the "usual format" as follows;
Sunday 25th May - 10.10 train from Wharf to Abergynolwyn.
Monday 26th May - 10.10 train from Wharf to Abergynolwyn. Beach night from 7 p.m.
Tuesday 27th May - 10.10 train from Wharf to Abergynolwyn. Evening works train at 5.40 from PENDRE.
Wednesday 28th May - 10.10 train from Wharf to Dolgoch. Evening training train for Trainees and the older Tracksiders and any parents. 18.45 for 19.00 departure from PENDRE. As we intend to simulate unusual happenings, we can only include those tracksiders who are 14 and over or will be 14 this year. If there are any tracksiders (or parents) who are interested in becoming (or would like to experience being) a traffic trainee and would like to come, please email John Simner with your address so that we can send parental consent letters.
Thursday 29th May - Duncan day at Wharf starts with the safety brief in LLechfan garden at 10.15. We have the Tracksiders Model Railway Exhibition in the Slater Room, so please bring your models. Also, David Rowbottom will be "officer in charge" of the garden railway, so that may be used throughout the day. As usual, we will be doing the Awdry readings - I will provide the readings, books and schedules, but it would be helpful if one of the other parents would take responsibility for recruiting readers and acting as master of ceremonies on the day. Any offers please?
Thursday evening the annual putting competion.
Friday 30th May - depends on what we have not finished. However, at 5.40 from PENDRE our BBQ train to Abergynolwyn.
GENERAL COMMENTS
The above represents a "final draft" I'm in Tywyn this weekend, to finalise things.
With the exception of the training train, you may join any of the trains specified at intermediate stations or halts. The safety brief and work allocation will take place as usual on arrival at the work station and attendance is mandatory each day you wish to work.
One of the activities is to progress the sculpture trail and this will include a "Tracksiders mosaic". Can you all please look through your garages etc to see if you have any surplus tiles that we can use - the more brightly coloured the better! Alternatively, can you see if your local DIY outlet will let us have any (breakages would be fine).
We will as usual be making tea and coffee making facilities available, with flasked hot water, but in an attempt to be environmentally friendly, we will not be providing polysyrene cups, so please bring your own mugs.
If I have missed anybody from this missive, please forward this email to them (and let me know). However, the machine says I've too many on the address list, so I'm having to issue in sections. (Piers - I still don't seem to have the Frees address on my system - can you please oblige?)
Regards, Ian
