Covid-19 Update

Railway: CLOSED
Reopen Date: TBC

22nd June 2020

We are pleased to be able to re-open the shop, albeit on a limited basis.  It will be open 10am-1pm weekdays initially, and will also offer takeaway hot and cold drinks, cakes and ice-creams.

16th June 2020

We’re already back at Dolgoch on the appeal – an amazing £100,000 raised!

13th June 2020

We are delighted to be able to welcome back some local volunteers to do some outdoor work, principally vegetation maintenance.  We are also preparing our shop at Wharf with a view to allowing it to re-open on the 22nd June, as long as the Welsh Government allows non-essential shops to commence trading again as is planned.
Initially it will be open from 10am – 1pm weekdays only.  More info to follow on Friday 19th when the Government hold their 3 weekly review.

2nd June 2020

The Tea and cake was lovely, and we’ve headed off and reached Quarry siding with the appeal.  £90,000 reached

14th May 2020

Our return trip has now made it back to Abergynolwyn for tea and cake!  Amazingly, due to everyone’s generosity, we are up to £85,000 on the appeal.  Thank you

7th May 2020

Doe to the success of our appeal reaching the initial £75,000 target, we are now embarking on the ‘virtual’ return leg and heading back to Wharf station!

We’ve already reached £80,000 and are approaching Abergynolwyn for our tea and cake stop!  The current appeal progress is here

30th April 2020

THANK YOU!  Our appeal target has been met.  Your kind generosity has allowed us to cover our base costs until the end of June.

However, the current thought is that tourist attractions like ours will be the last to emerge from any lockdown, and operating under any social distancing rules will be very difficult for us.  Please help us make the virtual journey back down the line to Wharf!

So we are leaving the appeal open, and the ‘Virtual Visit’ theme will continue, with regular updates on our social media platforms.

The messages we have received over the last 6 weeks have been very supportive and moving – we are very grateful for the generosity of our supporter base.

We have now cancelled all special events until further notice, a new schedule will be published as and when we re-open.

20th April 2020

Wish you were here!! Three managers (Stuart – General Manager, Lorraine – Commercial Manager and Chris – Engineering Manager) remain employed by the Railway all other workers are off on ‘furlough’.
