On the 14th May 1951, the first train in Railway Preservation left Wharf station for a short trip to Rhydyronen. It marked the start of Heritage Railways as we know them now, being the first volunteer run railway in the world.
We will commemorate that day with a recreation of the train to mark the 70th Anniversary of the event. Due to the restrictions the pandemic has created, it will be a low key event, but we will broadcast it live for many to enjoy.
