Welcome to the Talyllyn Railway
2021 – Our 70th Anniversary Year
Unfortunately, due to the current COVID restrictions, the Railway is currently closed. Although our planned operating days are shown on the timetables page, we are not currently releasing tickets until we are sure of a reopening date.
The Welsh Government are reviewing restrictions on 29th January, so that is the earliest we will know if we are able to run our scheduled services.
King's Café at Wharf station and Quarryman's Caban at Abergynolwyn offer a wide range of quality meals and snacks for every time of day with tempting cakes and puddings as standard! Both cafes serve hot and cold drinks and are licensed
Our shop at Tywyn Wharf station stocks a wide selection of Talyllyn Railway branded goods, Welsh items, maps, DVDs, books, gift confectionery, jewellery, cards, jigsaws, toys & games and many other items
The Talyllyn Railway and its surrounding areas provide some of the best and most scenic walking routes within the Snowdonia National Park including being on the Welsh Coastal Path. Combined with a trip on the railway it makes for a unique day out
The NUMBER 1 Railway, that wonderful welcome, helpfulness it never changes, will never tire of this Railway - IT IS SPECIAL
Wonderful experience - Rain or shine. Beautiful engines, friendly staff and quality facilities. Faultless! Looking forward to doing it all again
We went on the train journey on a rainy day to get out and keep the kids entertained. I loved that you could have a carriage to yourselves and it made our journey more relaxing knowing our boisterous toddler wasn't interrupting anyone. Beautiful scenery and friendly folk
Well, what can I say this Narrow Gauge is a must for everybody to go and see. This line is suitable for all ages especially those who are fans of "Thomas The Tank Engine". The railway is also good for those of you who may be able to recall the Golden Days of travel from...
Last visited this railway in the late 1970s and was really eager to visit. Trains were clean and quiet, volunteers knowledgeable and friendly. The best thing was the scenery...stunning.....
Wonderful Railway, very pleasant way to see the beautiful countryside in the Fathew valley. Five wonderful little steam trains were out Staff friendly and informative. The train was immaculately maintained.
Superb day out also outstanding value for money, visited during August with our two dogs. Really enjoyable day out, fantastic views whilst going through the Welsh Mountains. Beautiful train carriages which were really comfortable. We have visited many steam railways in the past and this by far the most enjoyable
